When Covid closed Japan, Al Jazeera's travel show moved continents with a quarter of the usual prep.
The Traveller was planned for Japan. Travel restrictions closed that door with weeks to go, and the usual twelve weeks of preproduction became three.
Twelve weeks of prep became three.
We rebuilt the series for South Africa: new research, new schedules, new scripts, with daily calls between Al Jazeera's presenter team and our crew.
The episodes were finished in London and aired on Al Jazeera with much higher online viewing than earlier seasons.
