Cookie Policy
Draft wording prepared for Samurai Productions. Have a solicitor check it before launch.
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work the same way. This policy covers both.
What we use
- Language preference (local storage, key "samurai-lang"): remembers whether you chose English or Arabic. It stays on your device until you clear it and is never sent to us.
- World globe settings (local storage, keys "samurai-world-layers" and "samurai-world-sound"): remember which map layers you turned on and whether sound is on. They stay on your device and are never sent to us.
- Film players: when you press play, a Vimeo player (in do-not-track mode) or a YouTube player loads in the page. YouTube may then set its own cookies, covered by Google's privacy policy. Neither player loads until you press play.
- Google Analytics (cookies "_ga" and "_ga_56EYY5H3EG"), only if you press Accept: counts visits and the pages viewed so we can see what is useful. The cookies last up to 2 years. Google does not store your IP address, and Google signals and ad personalisation are off.
- Your cookie choice (local storage, key "samurai-consent"): remembers whether you accepted or declined, so we do not ask again.
Nothing else is stored. We do not use advertising cookies. Analytics loads only after you press Accept; if you press Decline, or ignore the notice, it never loads.
The language, globe and cookie-choice settings only do what you asked for, so they do not need your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. Analytics does, which is why we ask first.
Third parties
Fonts load from Google Fonts, and the weather tool requests forecasts from MET Norway. Neither sets cookies on this site, but both receive your IP address when your browser contacts them. See our Privacy Policy.
Managing cookies
You can change your analytics choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Declining removes the Google Analytics cookies. You can also clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings; the site still works, but it will open in English each time.
