The challenge
Samurai Productions was tasked with producing eight episodes of the Arabic travel show, Al Mosafer, with the goal of setting a new standard in production quality. The project faced significant hurdles due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially planned in Japan, travel restrictions forced a last-minute change to South Africa, leaving only three weeks for preproduction instead of the usual 12.
What we did
Samurai Productions leveraged its expertise and global network to manage the project efficiently. The team conducted detailed research, scheduled, and scripted the episodes for South Africa. Daily communication between Al Jazeera's presenter team and the on-site crew ensured smooth collaboration throughout the four-week shoot.
The result
Samurai Productions successfully delivered four episodes highlighting South Africa's landscapes and experiences. Post-production in London further enhanced the episodes. The episodes aired on Al Jazeera TV, receiving widespread acclaim and significantly higher online viewership, setting a new standard for Al Mosafer.
